Fortunately, that question has a simple answer:
- We recommend you to buy the most up-to-date version that supports your computer.
To be able to compare, is necessary to know the minimum requirements of hardware that has each version.
Flight Simulator 98
Minimum requirements of hardware (it can vary according to the software package):
- Windows 95 or higher with service pack 3.
- PC with 133 MHz equivalent or higher processor.
- Memory RAM: 16 MB for Windows 95/98 and 32 MB for Windows NT 4.0.
- 200 MB available hard disk space, 30 MB of available hard disk space for swap file.
- 4x speed or faster CD-ROM drive.
- Super VGA.
- Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio.
- 56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play.
- Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device.
Flight Simulator 2000
Minimum requirements of hardware:
